Technology and Transportation Mogul, Army Veteran Joins MFAN Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) is pleased to announce that Joseph Kopser has joined the Board of Directors. A technology entrepreneur and expert in transportation, smart cities, urban mobility, energy, and national security issues, Kopser brings a wealth of experience and an extensive network to the MFAN leadership.

Kopser is a West Point graduate and served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. During his service, he earned the Combat Action Badge, Army Ranger Tab, and the Bronze Star. Kopser and his family are familiar with the opportunities and challenges associated with the military family experience. While in the military, he, his wife Amy, and their three daughters moved 11 times, and Kopser served on multiple combat deployments.

Kopser is passionate about leveraging collaboration, creativity, and technology to help others live smarter. After years of a frustrating commute around the Washington, D.C. area, Kopser built RideScout, a mobile application that links all forms of transportation allowing people to reach their destinations in the most efficient way possible. Kopser sold RideScout to Mercedes in 2014.

MFAN’s authentic connection to the military community and social learning programs are what drew Kopser to the organization. “I am thrilled to join the MFAN team,” said Kopser. “MFAN’s combination of technology, social connection, and peer-leader approach creates a formula that modern military families truly need.”

Kopser is the executive-in-residence at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and the president of Grayline Group, a management consulting firm that is committed to driving collaborative social change. Kopser and Amy live in Austin, TX, where he is an active member of the Austin and greater Texas community. Kopser actively serves leadership roles at the Austin Chamber of Commerce, CleanTX, Vetted Foundation, the Texas Lyceum, the Texas Association of Business, and Bunker Labs Austin.
